Academy Award winners Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts, alongside Amy Adams, star in this story of an alcoholic, womanizing Texas congressman who persuaded the CIA to train and arm resistance fighters in Afghanistan, which resulted in fending off the Soviet Union but inadvertently empowered the ill-equipped Afghan freedom-fighters into a force that became the Taliban'senforcers and Osama bin Laden's protectors.
