Sponsorship Opportunities

The Maui Film Festival is a perfect combination of a beautiful location, great people, great venues and a wonderful mix of films. As founder and director Barry Rivers says about the Maui Film Festival 'Heaven finally has a film festival.' I couldn't agree more!

Maui Film Festival Sponsorship

"Each June, the stunning island of Maui is the place where the brightest minds in film converge in paradise for an inspiring combination of relaxation and excitement at the Maui Film Festival at Wailea. Screening an impressive collection of studio and independent features that enthrall and top notch documentaries that captivate and inform audiences. There's no better place than Maui for a film festival."

— Starz Festival Pass

"We have enjoyed four years as the official spirit sponsor of the Maui Film Festival and consider it an important aspect of our annual event marketing plan. The festival exudes a luxurious and pristine nature not found at most other film festivals. The festival's quality, location and attendees are second to none."
— Giles Woodyer, Senior Marketing Manager, Bombay Sapphire

“Starbucks Coffee has been a proud sponsor of the Maui Film Festival since its inaugural year in 2000. Each year, the festival's Celestial Cinema provides Starbucks a branding opportunity par excellence. It is a gorgeous venue to share Starbucks product, both classic and new, with customers from the Mainland, Maui and all over the world. Providing Starbucks Coffee for festival attendees allows Starbucks to connect with customers new and old, and puts ear-to-ear smiles on happy 'taste testers' that are nearly as big as the Celestial Cinema screen itself!"
— Aubrey L. Hord, Marketing Manager, Starbucks Coffee Hawaii

GREAT BRANDS GET IT.

They understand that, in addition to presenting unique opportunities for client and executive hospitality, the Maui Film Festival Experience is a picture perfect platform to create brand awareness and loyalty among the cultural creatives, first adapters, new enthusiasts and consumers they crave.

SPONSORSHIP. MEET OPPORTUNITY.

MFF Development OfficeThe Maui Film Festival is equal parts Film Festival and Lifestyle Festival. Nearly 8,000 people from the Mainland, Maui and around the globe descend on the prestigious and luxurious resort community of Wailea each year to sample the good life the Maui Film Festival Experience offers. The ambiance of Maui serves as the festival's 'architect', and great films—and their associated creative arts—are its 'architecture'.

There are no secret passwords necessary to gain access to the event's most star-studded and luxurious experiences. Unlike many other film festivals, whose primary focus is commerce transacted between entertainment industry mavens behind velvet ropes or rarified dialogue between cinema cognoscenti, the Maui Film Festival's five-day-underthe-stars 'Cirque du Cinema'—while attended by many of the most financially successful people drawn to any filmfestival is, nonetheless, equally accessible to all.

That said, the concept of 'joie de vivre'—living everyday life with zest, passion and joy in anticipation of what each new day may bring—is fortunately not lost on the plugged-in and passionate patrons attending each year's Maui Film Festival. Almost without exception, they are a group who seek out and crave on-going experiences of the finest things in life.

Better yet, from the viewpoint of potential sponsors, they do it primarily in Wailea—the resort with the highest average daily room rate in the State of Hawaii. The convergence of Maui's semi-tropical sun and surf; leading-edge health, wellness, massage and spa options; flavorful Pacific Rim cuisine; and, last but not least, indigenous Hawaiian culture and ever-present aloha are the key ingredients which work the Maui Film Festival's magic on each and every attendee who collectively passed through the Maui Film Festival's turnstiles 20,000+ times in June, 2007.

SPONSORSHIP OVERVIEW

Maui SkyDomeSince June 2000, the Maui Film Festival has produced an annual five-day celebration of compassionate cinematic vision and storytelling. Taking place primarily at the Wailea Resort on Maui's picture perfect south shore, the Festival is a showcase for the best major studio, mini-major and independent distributors' releases of each summer. Many screenings unspool at under-the-stars venues considered by industry insiders and the international entertainment press to be either "the" or "among the" preeminent open air venues on Earth.

World-class culinary arts events, filmmakers panels, A-List tributes and private parties also contribute to making each year's Maui Film Festival at Wailea Hawaii's premiere film festival at Maui's premier resort a must-see for the nearly four thousand five hundred affluent lovers of great filmmaking and graceful living who travel to Maui each year for the event, where more than 40 features and nearly 25 shorts were screened in 2007. Taste of WaileaThese mainland attendees, drawn together equally by their love of film as they are by Maui's 'hang loose' ambiance, enjoyed their Maui Film Festival experience alongside thousands of Maui and Hawaii residents.

In addition to the Maui Film Festival's annual event in Wailea, the Festival presents an on-going weekly CandleLight Café & Cinema film series throughout the year and FirstLight: Academy Screenings on Maui each Holiday Season, at which virtually all of the year's most award-worthy releases are presented either in advance of their national release dates or contemporaneously with screenings in New York or Los Angeles only.

A-LIST 'LUMINARIES'

Since the inaugural Maui Film Festival at Wailea, the Festival has chosen an ‘ohana’ (family) of honorees that it prefers to call luminaries, rather than merely celebrities. As the Festival defines it, a luminary is a film artist whose overall body of work sheds as much light as heat and whose talent and work ethic place them in a category that transcends mere celebrity. A luminary is the real deal.

The list includes: Joan Allen (Galaxy Award), Angela Bassett (Pathfinder Award), Jessica Biel (Shining Star Award),Adrien Brody (Friend of the Festival),Tim Burton (Silversword Award), Patricia Clarkson (Pathfinder Award), Claire Danes (Nova Award), Geena Davis (Stella Award), Clint Eastwood (Silversword Award), Jake Gyllenhaal (Shining Star Award), Laird Hamilton & Dave Kalama (Beacon Award),Woody Harrelson (Navigator Award),Ted Hope (Trailblazer Award),Anthony Hopkins (Silversword Award), Helen Hunt (Stella Award),William Hurt (Navigator Award), Greg Kinnear (Navigator Award), William H. "The Maui Film Festival Serves Up Feasts, Stars and Enlightenment.
It’s where the seaside rules and studio execs retreat and where there’s
enough A-list presence on and off screen to make it an island
celebration deserving of its industry recognition."

— Harriette Yahr, IndieWire

"Hollywood under the stars – in pure paradise. That’s the cosmic chemistry of this under-the-stars
festival. You relax all day. You get that thrilling “Is this the upstart Oscar contender of the year?” buzz at night. The features don’t start until you’ve observed a hula ritual and heard an astronomer’s tour of the stars. Yet this isn’t a New Agey fringe festival: it’s grown from 1,500 to more than 20,000 attendees in less than a decade and drawn blockbuster premieres."

— Sarah Mueler Bossenbroek, San Francisco Magazine
