Hope this brief email finds you enjoying Summer and having enjoyed the recently completed Maui Film Festival at Wailea and the MACC.
For those who attended, we would really appreciate hearing about "how it was for you". Please take a moment and e-mail us at srivers@aloha.net with your take on "The Good, The Great, The Bad, and The Ugly!" Thanks in advance for your time and feedback and thanks as well for attending. It's all of you who keep things rolling along!
For those who may have missed it, Rick Chatenever, Entertainment Editor of the Maui News, really captured this year's magic in last week's terrific Maui Scene column. If you missed it and would like to read it over, please click here.
We also want to thank the filmmakers behind the more than 1,200 films that were submitted for consideration by this year's Maui Film Festival programmers, and also to extend special congratulations to the filmmakers behind the 2006 Maui Film Festival Audience Award winning films.
Feature length winners include: PEACEFUL WARRIOR and THE ILLUSIONIST (a tie for the Best Feature); THE HEART OF THE GAME and AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH (another tie for Best Documentary Feature) and MONSTER HOUSE (Best Family Friendly Feature). Short film winners include: GNOME (Best Narrative Short), DO YOU WANT THE ELEPHANT MUSIC (Best Documentary Short) and FIRST FLIGHT (Best Animated Short).
Again, congratulations one and all!
We wanted to also let all of you know that, after a much needed break this past week and for another week or so, we will be firing up the CandleLight Cafe & Cinema again starting Wednesday, July 12th with ON A CLEAR DAY (film description and trailer) and continuing each Wednesday through August (and beyond). Expect great new dinners with "wine pairings" in the Cafe....also new music by "up & coming" local musicians.
That's all from here for now. Hope to see you all soon.
With Much Aloha,
Barry & Stella, the Maui Film Festival "Ohana" and all of our 2006 Sponsors
