We're enjoying a bit of R&R in this stunningly beautiful city that we proudly called home for a few years before heading to Maui in the pre-fax, pre-pager, pre-email, pre-cell phone, pre-Blackberry Golden Years of the latter part of the last Century!
Suffice to say, if you haven't enjoyed a day in Golden Gate Park during the refreshingly rejuvenating mid-60's clear blue sky days that we've been experiencing this last week, that among other things featured an amazing performance by the San Francisco Mime Troupe of the brilliantly insightful and funny as hell "Godfellas" (their new play about the encroachment of theocracy into the daily life), then you need to jump a jet ASAP and see what you're missing! We're having a terrific time.
That said, we wanted to send this quick note to say that the CandleLight Cafe & Cinema will return to the Castle Theater for several weeks of great films (as noted immediately below with links to their official web sites and trailers).
As we return to entertain and enlighten all of us, who have come to rely on the Maui Film Festival's ongoing weekly film series to remain one of Maui's most consistently meaningful cultural/social activities, it is worth remembering that the CandleLight Cafe & Cinema can continue only if you and your friends make the effort to attend several times each month or so.
Because at the end of the day/night, while the Maui Film Festival may be our company, all of you are its virtual stockholders. And, the extent to which each of you, and the members of your 'ohana, continue to support it is directly proportional to our willingness and ability to continue to keep the faith-and keep on truckin'!
In closing, we want to thank you all again for your continuing support throughout the year as well as during the recently completed June Festival.
We also hope to see you all over the next few weeks and beyond, and want to ask you, and thank you in advance, for sharing the gist of this e-mail with others who may not receive our e-mails. Together, we can all keep our weekly immersion in intelligent storytelling alive and thriving...even during these challenging times.
Take Care,
Barry & Stella Rivers
