AKEELA AND THE BEE
Oprah Winfrey's favorite film of the year to date, this inspirational drama, starring Academy Award winners Angela Bassett and Laurence Fishburne alongside newcomer Keke Palmer, about a precocious eleven-year old girl from south Los Angeles with a gift for words and the courage to inspire her often undervalued community, is a must-see for the whole family. "Splendiferous" raved Newsweek. Entertainment Weekly agreed noting that "this feel-gooder revels in its hip-to-be-square hyperliteracy... a kind of preteen "Good Will Hunting." Rated. PG. 110 min.

MONGOLIAN PING PONG
Variety called this charming story, set in the Mongolian steppe, "a charming yarn about nomadic prairie kids who mistake a table-tennis ball for a glowing pearl from the gods" and set out on a trek to the faraway monastery to consult the wise lamas about its origin. "One of the most breathtaking cinematic records of landscape and sky ever filmed" raved the Village Voice. "Movies don't come any more charming than 'Mongolian Ping Pong'!" (New York Post). In Mongolian with English subtitles. Unrated, but great for kids of all ages. 102 min.
